Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Monitoring Perform comprehensive neurological assessments for acute and chronic neuro patients. Monitor for changes in neurological status, hemodynamics, seizure activity, and indicators of post-surgical complications or stroke progression. Recognize and respond promptly to early signs of neurological decline, seizure escalation, or treatment-related complications. Neuroscience & Epilepsy-Specific Care Provide care for patients undergoing neurosurgery, stroke interventions, and advanced epilepsy diagnostics including continuous EEG monitoring. Administer specialized neurological therapies and complex medication regimens, including antiepileptic, thrombolytic, and neuroprotective treatments. Support coordination of imaging, EEG, surgical procedures, and interventions critical to stroke, neurology, and epilepsy care pathways. Critical Interventions Respond to neurological emergencies including seizures, status epilepticus, stroke alerts, and post-operative complications. Operate specialized equipment such as continuous EEG systems, infusion pumps, and telemetry monitors. Collaboration & Communication Provide extensive teaching to patients and families on seizure safety, stroke recovery, post-surgical care, and long-term disease management. Participate actively in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to individualized neuro care plans Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and adhere to hospital protocols, infection control, and safety standards. The Nursing Manager is expected to perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare and comply with all policies and procedures, OSHA, HIPAA, local, state, and federal regulations. Essential Duties: Act as liaison between nursing team and Medical Director/Directory of Psychiatry. Delegate shift-specific responsibilities to maximize efficiency and accuracy in provision of nursing care. Perform two to four (2-4) clinical shifts monthly and fill in for nurses who take vacation/call out, as well as stepping in to perform clinical duties if team is short staffed. Perform chart audits on a weekly basis and address any missing or erroneous documentation immediately. Review all medication error reports and internal incident reports related to medications. Completion of all compliance-related nursing documentation and treatment plans when indicated that RN may complete. Compile and distribute reports as required. Act as liaison with local pharmacies regarding any payment issues and communicate with admissions staff when issues arise. Phlebotomy when ordered by MD and communicate with Quest regarding pickup. Uphold all policies and procedures of Newport Healthcare.
