Responsibilities The Patient Throughput Coordinator will work with multiple entities to find and surmount the barriers to discharge of patient. This position acts as the designated liaison who facilitates and coordinates the transfer of patients into and within University Hospital. Works with referring agencies, hospitals, clinics, and the emergency department to ensure safe, timely transition of patients and clinically manages patient movement between units from the PACU, Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, procedural clinics and pre-admits for all service lines. Works with many support services, care areas and administrators to ensure clinically safe patient care, capacity management and efficient patient flow withing the University Hospital, all in accordance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) guidelines. Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required. BLS and ACLS certifications required. Must have knowledge of patient flow operations. This is a fast paced service. Patients have a short length of stay and the unit admits and discharges patients 24/7. Overview About the Role The Oncology RN Clinical Care Coordinator (OCC) works collaboratively with an oncologist in delivering care to their assigned patient population. This is an outpatient position and requires oncology clinical experience and sound nursing knowledge related to the care of patients undergoing cancer treatment to assist with the education, the coordination of care, and ongoing assessment of the patient's response to treatment. The OCCC assesses patients for symptoms, clinical and psychological needs, treatment-related concerns, and barriers to care. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to support the Nurse Manager to ensure standards of professional practice are developed and maintained to achieve excellence and continuity in resident care. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working in a collaborative manner with the Nurse Manager to direct and organize the nursing care for their assigned neighborhoods. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support the leadership, direction, and supervision of nursing staff, including RNs/LPNs, CNAs and Companions. This includes working in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and the neighborhood staff to balance schedules and maintain staffing levels that are consistent with resident needs, including needs as defined by their Plan of Care, activity and daily schedules, outside and in-house clinic visits, and school programs. The Assistant Nurse Manager will also review and/or modify staff assignments as necessary to ensure quality resident care. In addition, the Assistant Nurse Manager will participate in the hiring, interviewing and onboarding process, as well as periodic evaluation of staff that are assigned to their floor. Evaluations include annual performance reviews as well as interim coaching, counseling and progressive disciplines that may be required. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of at least 4 days per week a that includes providing evening supervisory coverage and reporting off daily concerns and significant changes in resident condition to the night supervisors. The Assistant Nurse Manager will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician II position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician II performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician II delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising quality of care. The OR Technician II possesses knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Check and record urine and bowel movements. Ensure that assigned residents are appropriately prepared for school, clinic, recreation and hospital visits as scheduled and accompany/transport them as assigned. Ensure that bedfast residents are repositioned as directed by NCC but not less than two repositions per resident hourly. Performs restorative and rehabilitative activities as instructed and as directed by Plan of Care. Assists in applying safety restraints to residents when directed; Monitors residents in restraints, release restraints and documents according to policy and procedure Ensures that each resident who can use a call bell has one within reach and remind him/her to use it. Assists co-workers with lifting, positioning and other procedures as necessary. Be aware of facility policy on child abuse and/or neglect and promptly report any instances of abusive or inappropriate behaviors towards any resident to the NCC. Knows and follows The Center policy and procedure with regard to infection control including hand washing and types of isolation. Keep resident care area clean and free of clutter. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to NCC. Properly stores and safeguard residents’ clothing and reports too many or too few clothing and or toys to NCC. Feeds residents or teaches residents to feed themselves as appropriate.
