Utilizes advanced knowledge of sterile and surgical techniques by practicing aseptic technique. Serves as a resource in the area of clinical expertise to Surgical Technologist I's & II's in order to answer any questions and assist with complex situations. Communicate patient data in an accurate, objective manner to co-workers and management, in order to ensure safe patient care. Participates in multidisciplinary planning care by discussing specific cases with other team members. Assists Specialty Nurse Coordinator with service specific needs. Maintains a positive working relationship with patient's, medical and administrative hospital staff, visiting physicians, visitors, interns and students to ensure personal comfort and safety of patients, and that operating room activities meet the needs of users. This paid program will assist you with the transition out of the classroom setting through a formalized series of learning experiences, including: Advanced clinical training in a specialty area. The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN Resident serves as an advocate for patients, families and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience. What will you do in this role: Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Overview Department: Day Surgery Shift’s Available: Days Employment Type: Full Time Hours: 8 hour – 6:30am to 3:30-4pm Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX We are seeking a Day Surgery Charge Nurse.The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift and assists the Director in the daily operation of the respective unit(s)/department. Responsibilities Provides direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events and/or risk management activities within patient care unit(s); Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments; Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary; Assists with performance evaluations, progressive discipline of staff and other related HR activities as needed; Assesses supplies and equipment availability, ensures their proper use and functionality and assists in the daily maintenance of par levels; Collaborates with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients; Enhanced patient flow within the facility and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes; Assesses patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation on a consistent basis; Directs staff members to make immediate changes in the plan of care, as appropriate to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory guidelines, hospital policies, procedures, protocols and/or clinical pathways and notifies Department Director, House Supervisor and/or Medical Staff as appropriate utilizing the chain of command. Interviews patients/families on admission and during rounds to enhance positive patient experiences, provide comprehensive orientation to the patient care unit and increase patient/family awareness on how to access services and/or the charge nurse, if necessary. Qualifications 1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Current PALS upon hire and maintain current, preferred (Required for facilities performing peds OR).5. Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital setting, preferred.6. Minimum of one (1) year of critical care, PACU experience, preferred in an acute care hospital setting.7. CNOR or CCRN within two (2) years, preferred.8.
