Position Summary: Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license Education, License & Cert: LPN ‐ Must be licensed in the state of practice. Experience: One‐year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required Essential Functions: 1. Directs patient to exam room and prepares patient for exam or treatment by identifying height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, and records same on chart. Routes patient after exam to proper area for ancillary testing or follow‐up appointments, i.e. Blood work, x‐rays, and enter lab testing as requested. 8. Basic knowledge of medications (side effects/contraindications, etc.) 9. Be able to read and review pathology results with patients 10. Setup and tear down sterile fields 11. Basic knowledge of surgical instruments 12. Prepare surgical trays as needed for procedures for the day. 13. Assist surgeon with operative procedures both in the office and Operating Room if necessary 14. Maintain infection control measures including but not limited to proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave 15. Proficient with autoclave sterilization process 16. Knowledge and proficiency of dressing changes and suture removal 17. Assess signs and symptoms of infection and reporting to surgeon and/or provider 18. Hepatitis checks and protocol to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse 19. May perform high level disinfection, based on departmental equipment. Other Duties: 1. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide basic medical attention to patients and assess their wellbeing as part of a larger medical team. Your duties will include checking vital signs, recording a patient's medical history, and assisting patients with hygiene. Responsibilities: Administer medications and nursing procedures to patients as prescribed. Obtain and record patient temperatures, blood pressures, pulse rates, and other vital signs using standard instruments and procedures. Observe, monitor, and record patient symptoms and conditions to obtain and provide information for diagnosis and treatment; identify responses to medication or changes in health status, and reports status to a registered nurse, physician, or other licensed healthcare provider. Prepare patient for or assist with examinations and treatments. Maintain charts and other records of patient conditions and/or administered treatment. Educate and counsel patients regarding their health, medications, and treatment goals and procedures, as appropriate. Monitor supply inventories, and complete requisition forms to ensure adequate supply levels. As necessary, observe and supervise the activities of unlicensed direct care staff, including the administration of medication, to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and report observations to higher-level staff. Education / Certification: Currently registered in New York State or has possession of a valid permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Experience: Previous long-term experience in LPN role is preferable. Good investigative skills. Ability to write, educate, and work independently. Job Type: Full-time Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday and every other weekend. Work Location: One location, Brooklyn, New York.
