Overview The Department of Surgery at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding LPN to join the team. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for overseeing and assisting with the day-to-day patient care including but not limited to taking vitals, administering meds/treatments, assisting physicians, doing wound care, patient education, documentation, coordinating care, focusing on comfort and supporting quality initiatives, in a fast-paced office. LPN will also assist with training new staff and a point of contact for medical assistants. Responsibilities Triage incoming patients by obtaining vital signs, following standing triage orders, reconcile medication list, reconcile allergies, make sure immunizations are up to date and prepare patients for the visit. Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e. patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up. All tasks must be reviewed, addressed, and marked appropriately before the closure of each business day. Assist physicians with examinations, minor surgeries, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
