This unit has an average daily census of 25 and is comprised of 7 private rooms, 10 semi-private rooms and a 4-bed observation room for patients who may be confused, at risk for falls or in need of visual monitoring. Known for their exceptional assessment skills and team mentality, caregivers in this unit provide the best patient-centered and relationship-based care to their adult to geriatric patients with ranging medical-surgical diagnoses. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. The Clinical Nurse Medical Oncology role supports patient care delivery within the Medical Oncology G21 Unit at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. This 48-bed, four-pod intermediate medical oncology unit provides care to adult and geriatric patients ranging from 18 to 95 years old, including individuals with colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens, as well as management of treatment side effects, acute non-cancer medical conditions, cardiac monitoring, and infusion of cardiac medications.
