Job Description The Nemours Cardiac Center of the Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware is looking for a qualified Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Cardiac Center! $30,000 Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Bonus are being offered!! The Nemours Cardiac Center (NCC) provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular disease. The Cardiac Center provides patient care, performs research, educates and trains health care professionals in a variety of settings. This individual will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, dedicating his/her specialized practice to cardiac patients located in either the cardiac intensive care unit, on our telemetry floor or in our post anesthesia cardiac unit (cardiac PACU). The APRN or PA will also be involved with cardiac babies delivered on site in our advanced delivery unit. Our patient population ranges from newborns to young adults with congenital or acquired heart disease. Our surgeons perform all of the complex cardiac repairs, including definitive neonatal surgery, adult congenital surgery, and heart transplantation. They utilize all forms of mechanical support (VAD’s, ECMO, ECLS) as an adjunct to our very active heart failure and pulmonary hypertension service. This position will include working some night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Essential Responsibilities Obtain medical histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret laboratory data, and prescribe management and medications on patients admitted to our inpatient service. Present patients on rounds, write daily progress notes, collate inpatient records, and complete discharge summaries using the electronic medical record. Assist in the preoperative and postoperative care of surgical patients. Provide continuity of care when coordinating care with other members of the health care team. Job Summary St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in our Intensive Care Unit to join our team. Highlights: You will join a team of 7 attending Physicians, 7 Nurse Practitioners. The unit is covered 24/7 by 2 Mid level providers. The Hours of coverage vary 7a-4p, 4p-8a, and 7a-8a. Your shifts will vary throughout the month. Weekend and holiday coverage is expected. There are (3) 25 hr shifts of weekend time per month. Usually, one Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is call associated with this position - It will vary, minimum of 6 calls per month. Shifts will vary according to need. The PNP is responsible for a practice that demonstrates a high level of autonomy, clinical decision making and advanced skill in management and treatment of complex illnesses in the critical care environment. The PNP provides leadership and clinical support for the interdisciplinary team in the PICU/CCU/SCU, engages in research and quality management activities and, participates in multidisciplinary educational activities. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner (NP) under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, offers a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policy and state guidelines. They ensure necessary documentation of services is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor the provision of clinical services. Additionally, they communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A. and make arrangements for coverage of medical services if unavailable for an extended period of time. Key Responsibilities Provides medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds. Maintains accurate and legible progress note documentation in SOAP format and adheres to formulary guidelines. Responds to emergencies and makes logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals. Supports existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals. Maintains confidentiality and provides input into facility committees as requested. Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate patient population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. Licenses/Certifications Must have and maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner within the state of employment. Must have and maintain current CPR certification.
