Assistant Nurse Manager - Swedish Cancer Institute (Issaquah)

Description The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional Registered Nurse reporting to the unit director/manager who utilizes the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within assigned shift. The ANM is responsible for supporting the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit and providing managerial presence for all shifts. The ANM is responsible for managing clinical and non-clinical caregivers and providing input to the director/manager for evaluation purposes related to performance. Duties include but not limited to compliance to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; implementing and monitoring compliance to policies, processes and clinical priorities, coaching, mentoring and collaborating to deliver quality health care to patients. Supervises the planning, coordination and delivery of patient care activities of the unit(s) in a team environment. Supervises in coordinating daily staffing and utilization of health care providers according to established standards of care and competencies. Supervises scheduling process of staff. Provides input to development and revision of unit policies and procedures. Supports patient rights and code of conduct. Inspects the unit regularly for compliance with department policies and procedures, standards and regulations, and takes corrective action when indicated. Promotes harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes amongst the health care team. Promotes and maintains a positive and open working relationship with the medical staff and other hospital departments. Conducts staff meeting posting agendas and minutes in department. Assists to resolve patient complaints in a timely manner, referring to manager/director or other sources to intervene as appropriate. Serves as a role model to staff in upholding positive relationships with patients and visitors. Consults and serves as a resourced professional to staff members by identifying learning needs and providing instructions to staff member when observed to be needed. Contributes creative ideas for systems and supplies; participates in evaluation of new products, supplies and equipment. Provides direction to nursing staff to get their assignments completed in a timely manner and to assure that all team members will/are working at their capacity. UOR follow-up. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree - Graduate from School of nursing (BS, or BSN). Registered Nurses employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024 are encouraged to pursue the BSN degree but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment. A Fred Hutch Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult oncology patients at our community site at Northwest Hospital. They will actively coordinate the complex care of cancer patients undergoing both systemic anti-cancer therapy and radiation therapy. The incumbent will manage side-effects of these therapies, order appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies; prescribe medications and refer patient to other specialists as necessary. The incumbent may provide for post-treatment cancer patients follow-up visits for the medically indicated period after completion of treatment. The incumbent will also provide psychological support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching and refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. This position requires the ability to lead other clinical staff, be accountable for the work required in this position, the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and the relentless pursuit of excellent patient centered care. This clinic provides a broad range of services including GI, Lung, GU, Breast, and Hematologic Malignancies and Radiation therapy. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care.
