Collaborates with providers, the Office Manager, and operational leadership to identify and implement workflow improvements that enhance patient access, efficiency, and service delivery. Coordinates daily staffing assignments and clinical workflows as delegated by the Office Manager to ensure operational needs are met. Provides patient care, insuring prompt response to patient in basket messages, coordinating follow-up cares and ensuring prompt referrals for patient population. Promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, service excellence, and patient-centered care. Provides direct nursing care utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practice standards. Performs nursing assessments, patient triage, medication reconciliation, and clinical documentation. Coordinates referrals to specialty care, diagnostic services, physical therapy, behavioral health, occupational medicine, and ancillary services. Manages referral tracking processes to ensure patients receive timely access to recommended care and follow-up. Supports occupational medicine programs and workplace health initiatives for county employees. Assists with pre-employment evaluations, annual occupational surveillance examinations, return-to-work evaluations, and fitness-for-duty assessments. Performs audiometric testing, hearing conservation screenings, spirometry testing, vision screening, and other occupational health assessments as required. Ensures compliance with MUSC Health policies and procedures, HIPAA requirements, OSHA standards, CLIA regulations, infection prevention guidelines, and applicable regulatory agencies. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits, patient safety activities, and performance monitoring programs. Promotes a culture of exceptional customer service and patient-centered care. Addresses patient concerns and service recovery opportunities in a timely and professional manner. Minimum Training and Education Associate Degree in Nursing and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a Registered Nurse required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Previous ambulatory care experience preferred. Experience in primary care, employee health, occupational health, employer-sponsored health clinics, or care coordination strongly preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date in accordance with MUSC Health Policy A141. Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations Current South Carolina licensure as a Registered Nurse or compact state licensure required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA-recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. ACLS certification if required by clinic operations. Obtain DOT/BAT certification within six months and OHN certification within one year are required. Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Major Responsibilities  Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.  Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.  Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.  Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.  Cleans and sterilizes instruments.  Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.  Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.  Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.  Assist doctors with charting  Chart auditing, CPT and ICD-9 review  Venipunctures, EKG's, Vital Signs, Blood draws, and Injections  Prep patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures  Prepare exam and treatment rooms (instrument preparation and sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications  Medical Assistant experience  CPT I certification  Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections.  Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet  Neat and professional appearance  Effective written and verbal communication skills  Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant Working Conditions Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

IMT teams are hired, trained and funded to maximize flexibility and continuity of care for persons who historically have been poorly served. The team provides expertise in the areas of housing, substance use and harm reduction, criminal justice, peer support and behavioral health recovery.
