Medical problems most often treated on this unit include: thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies for brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas, severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, caring for and assessing free flaps, doppler usage, tracheostomy care/management, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barre syndrome. Provides medication, diet and other instructions as ordered by the physician and recognizes and utilizes opportunities for health counseling with patients and families/caregivers. Works in concert with the interdisciplinary group. 7. Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient. 8.
