UNC Johnston Endoscopy is a fast-paced procedural unit located in Smithfield. It is a hospital-based endoscopy department. There is an enormous number of opportunities for medical professionals to grow, learn and develop into GI experts. Currently we operate up to 2 procedural rooms daily: with an average case load of 12 cases per day. Our hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 7:30 – 4pm with some rotating on call time Monday – Friday after hours of operation. We also have a phenomenal team of doctors. You will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best and become part of the team that delivers exceptional services for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures such as, colonoscopies, upper endoscopy, esophageal and colon stents, manometries, the capsule, ERCPs and bronchoscopies. Our nurses are trained to work in each of the patient care areas (pre, intra and post procedure). Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Responsibilities: 1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/ family/ caregivers.
