Job Responsibilities Supervise and provide clinical direction to licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants on the assigned unit Oversee daily nursing activities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, professional standards, and facility policies Promote a holistic, resident-centered approach to care Ensure nursing staff follow established policies, procedures, and standards of practice Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers Assess residents for changes in condition and promptly notify physicians, families, or representatives as appropriate Document resident assessments, changes in condition, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely Transcribe and carry out physician orders as directed Administer medications and monitor residents for therapeutic response and adverse effects Perform and oversee wound care and other skilled nursing treatments Coordinate follow-up appointments and transportation needs Provide hands-on clinical care, including colostomy care, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, IV administration, and other skilled nursing services as needed Conduct regular rounds to ensure resident needs are being met and nursing staff are completing assigned responsibilities Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation, social services, dietary, activities, and other interdisciplinary team members Participate in management meetings regarding census, resident status, care needs, complaints, and operational concerns Assist with staff performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions in accordance with facility policies Promote effective communication and teamwork among nursing staff Help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents and staff Qualifications Current, unrestricted Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license Nursing degree from an accredited college or university Current CPR certification Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred, but not required Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to prioritize effectively and make sound decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality, resident-centered care Benefits Competitive wages + shift differentials Weekly pay 6 paid holidays Medical, dental, and vision insurance Short- and long-term disability insurance Paid time off (PTO) for full-time employees 401(k) plan On-site employee education and professional development Supportive team environment Join Our Team If you are an experienced RN who enjoys leading a nursing team and making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents, we invite you to apply. We see approximately 4,400 patients each year. While the majority of our patients are healthy postpartum mothers and healthy newborns, we also take care of sick mothers who are experiencing complications, high-risk antepartum patients, pre-term patients, and those who have experienced pregnancy loss. On-call: Not required. This is a bargaining union position.
