Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Critical Care Transport) position is to provide and direct the critical care treatment and transport of patients in the hospital setting to the most appropriate facility. Provides pre-hospital Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS, ALS) and hospital patient care. As a member of the patient care team, under the direction of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and under the supervision of the Chief Flight Nurse and EMS Coordinator, the Staff Nurse will treat patients of all ages and from all populations who experience serious illness or injury, using age and population appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift, move and transport patients to an appropriate medical facility, while completing all required documentation and other assigned duties supporting efficient EMS operations and representing University Hospital and EMS in a positive and professional manner. Overview The Observation Unit is specialized and designed for efficient, ongoing medical treatment, assessment, and reassessment of patients before the appropriate decision can be made to either discharge or admit. You will care for a wide variety of patients with chest pain, A-fib, cellulitis, syncope, asthma, and congestive heart failure, trauma, musculoskeletal pain, stroke and TIA, among other diagnosis. This is a fast paced service. Patients have a short length of stay and the unit admits and discharges patients 24/7. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse on the Observation Unit (H-Blue) is to be accountable for the care activities, safety and goal achievements of assigned patients through assessing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems and evaluating patient’s response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient education and discharge planning. The Registered Professional Nurse is a member of a designated care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment and achieving the highest quality and safety in the delivery of patient care. RN Supervisor - Per Diem Night (only)

Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. To be familiar with all policies and procedures. Be able to seek appropriate guidance as needed. Work in collaboration with medical doctors in emergent situations and support and promote family centered care and maintain effective communication with family members. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for working an on-site schedule of a 3-4 days/week including weekends. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills in change management, emotional intelligence and demonstrated leadership experience in a residential or behavioral health setting. The RN Supervisor will be included in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to ensure continuity of systems and protocols are maintained through the entire week. Attends management meetings as required, this includes Operations Meetings and other Management Training as scheduled Rounds on Neighborhoods for the purpose of obtaining clinical information on residents, to support and educate staff, to assist with family issues and endorses complete information to next shift. Promotes 24 x7 accurate, objective clinical and administrative reports. Follow-up on status of residents transferred to other facilities and reports follow up to oncoming shift, Team Leader and physician Communicates effectively with Center Departments regarding resident/family needs on tour of duty and documents communication in a clear and concise manner. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator. Qualifications Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program B.S. N. (required); M.S.N. preferred RN in the State of New York BCLS certificate PALS certification preferred Completion of courses mandated for continuation of RN license, (ex. Infection Control course; Child Abuse course.) Experience Minimum of two years pediatric experience. Minimum of three years experience in supervisory role. Experience in pediatric and adolescent chronic and restorative nursing modalities preferred. Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary. Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Hourly Rate: $80/Hr.
