The Intake RN must answer calls entering the queue (or coming in on direct extensions) and process demographic, clinical and insurance information in a manner consistent with service excellence and that ensures efficient and effective call processing, leading to a patient admission to Pembroke Hospitals program or providing appropriate information to the caller. The Intake RN is an adjunct to the department and is available as an immediate resource to non- clinical staff to assist them in ensuring appropriate medical screening in order to facilitate timely and expedited placement of patients within Pembroke Hospital facilities who meet admission guidelines. Responsibilities Complete intake call sheet on all referrals including for inpatient as appropriate for the position. Gather all necessary demographic, clinical and financial information on call sheet. Ensure information is accurate and complete as call sheet is transmitted to hospital clinical and business office staff. Requests evaluation from ESP/ED/Referrer as appropriate. Assist Intake Coordinators when requested in interpretation of lab values, and diagnostic testing within Pembroke guidelines in order to facilitate appropriate referrals to facilities. Reviews for first call acceptance of appropriate patients based on Pembroke protocols. Notify the units of pending admissions.
