The University of Miami Health System Department of Radiology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Multi-Modality Technologist II to work at Lennar Foundation Medical Center in Miami. The incumbent is responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures through the operations of radiographic equipment to obtain highest quality of diagnostic images with the least amount of radiation exposure. Independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative are essential in addition to responsibility for designated areas, procedures and equipment. The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist provides diagnostic imaging in multiple specialties in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and within the policies, values, and mission of the organization. The technologist will spend a minimum of 25% of time practicing in special discipline. Specialized modalities include the following: Any combination of 2 or more. o X-ray (RT) o Computed Tomography (CT) o Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) o Nuclear Medicine (NM) CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Produces diagnostic imaging studies in two (2) specialized imaging modalities. Verify the patient’s ID by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical record and patient’s wristband. Always obtain necessary consents and education. Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Diagnostic Radiologic scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age-appropriate standards of practice. Ability to integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary. Consistently demonstrates complete competence in performing scans as ordered. As required during a procedure, assists positioning patients in required anatomical position for display of body for scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary. Maintain proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection and equipment disinfection). Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable. Assist radiologist with procedures. Evaluate scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to PACS. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions. Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant. Dispense radiopharmaceuticals orally, as per approved protocol. Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration. Maintain accurate patient records. Provide assistance with orientation and training of new technologists. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions. Provide education and training to student technologists. Position Responsibilities: · Functions as an advanced practitioner within primary care · Provides consultation on nursing practice and assigned patient outcome. · In collaboration with physician, orders and interprets diagnostic tests. · Reviews all admission data within the designated time frames; determines suitability of the level of care in accordance with hospital established criteria. · Procures services and serves as advocate on behalf of patients, families and the hospital for scarce resources throughout the continuum of care. · Facilitates and provides necessary patient and family education on admission as indicated. · Participates in the inter-disciplinary treatment planning conferences. Provides guidance to team when doing patient care conference. · Demonstrates advance knowledge of the general diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and nursing care of patients on the unit. · Interviews patients and completes a full comprehensive medical history and physical examination within 24 hours of admission. · Documents all information relative to the patient's history, physical examination, assessment and treatment plan following unit policy and standards. · Initiates referrals & collaborates with medical staff and other health care professionals. Coordinates management of patient care. Position Responsibilities Coordinates the logistics and activities concerning the Hospital, Clinical and Nursing Orientation Program including equipment set-up and generating information packages for Nursing and Allied Health Students. Inputs and maintains the Employee Education Database that includes all Education classes. Maintains the Orientation database of new hires with HIPAA, Guiding Principles, benefits and post-test score results etc. Compiles data and records on each contract employee; maintains files of Hospital Verifications for Clinical contract employees for licensure and certifications. Answers questions concerning Contract employees, Nursing and Allied Health Students. Maintains office supplies and orientation manuals including the Nova Glucose monitoring par level supplies. Prioritizes administrative workload and sorts incoming mail and phone messages. Greets applicants or visitors and offers assistance as required by providing accurate referrals to the appropriate department and by answering basic employment questions on an as needed basis. Prepares check requests and purchase orders as needed. Assists with the coordination of Nursing students, immunization forms, assignment badges, orientation process, exit evaluations upon completion of rotation. Schedules classes on CPR/ACLS/PALS/CPI/Haz Mat/ The Guiding Principles and EBOLA including the logistics of supplies, forms and equipment. Provides assistance to Human Resources Management as required and participates and completes special projects.
