Clinical Nurse RN - Lakewood GI Lab 101 Truman Medical Center Job Location UH Lakewood Medical Center Kansas City, Missouri Department GI Lab UHLMC Position Type Full time Work Schedule 7:30AM - 4:00PM Hours Per Week 40 Job Description A Registered Nurse who assists in the assessment and care of patients undergoing gastroenterology procedures, including pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post procedural care. Assists in endoscopic procedures as well as other GI procedures to include liver biopsies, anorectal and esophageal manometry, 24 hour ph, pill cam and paracentesis. Provides moderate sedation if needed. Follow established standards and practices under the direction of a gastroenterologist. Sets up equipment for procedural being performed, obtains and records patient data, and assesses patient during these procedures and delivers therapy. The Registered Nurse is required to be a part of team on call for emergency procedures after hours, weekends, and holidays. Initiates emergency interventions as appropriate. Ensures appropriate care, cleaning and maintenance of all equipment. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing or ADN. Current state of Missouri license as a Registered Nurse. Current BCLS and ACLS. Ability to perform independently in critical situations. Minimum of 2 years critical care or related experience (ICU, CCU, GI, PACU or Emergency Department)

Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable. You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
