Location: Moody Outpatient Center 3rd Floor Work Schedule - Monday - Friday Shift - 8 am to 5 pm (Days) Full Time PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience If less than 9 months experience, a Nurse residency is required. Collaborates with wound care, stoma and ENT nurses for performing wound, colostomy and tracheotomy care as directed. Effectively manages triage for patient/family/other internal and external health care professionals to navigate the health care system with nursing supervision. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experienced staff and team members as needed. May work with other staff in providing direction to non-nursing staff. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals, and objectives of Oncology Services and the institution. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of cancer services and the institution. The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care within scope of practice to ensure patient’s needs are met in accordance with standards of practice, physician orders, center policies as well as state, federal and local guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS Current RN license in practicing state. Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to acquire one. Experience in nursing management is preferred but not required. RESPONSIBILITIES Follows established procedure for charting and incident reporting. Follows company procedures for narcotic counting, pharmacy orders, and restraint reduction. Documents any change in patient's conditions including but not limited to nutritional problems, infections, skin conditions, weight loss or any other noticeable changes. Utilizes the Quality Life Manual for identification, placement, and monitoring of patients in the appropriate programs. Document and notify applicable departments of any patient's room changes, LOA, new admits, or discharges. Makes rounds with physicians when necessary.
