About the unit: We are excited to launch a 4-bed pilot program within our Child and Adolescent Unit, focused on providing specialized inpatient care for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability. This innovative program will lay the foundation for a future 10-bed unit at Pine Rest's Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health, opening in March 2026. The average patient stay is expected to be 25 days. Research has shown that treating both conditions together consistently provides better outcomes. The 20,000 square foot wing includes four single barrier-free rooms, six single rooms and six semi-private rooms.
