Overview The Clinical Pediatric Nurse Manager will coordinate the delivery of resident care and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures. As the leader of the team the Nurse Manager maintains the operational aspect of the unit in collaboration with the staff and interdisciplinary team. Maintains standards of care, oversees compliance to the care planning process and other facility policies. Ensures a restraint free environment for the residents in the neighborhood. Adheres to infection control standard and safety policies. Establishes and maintains a systematic process for ensuring all nursing staff documentation is done in accordance with facility policy and procedure. Actively seeks resolution to situations that may arise on the unit, completes incident reporting and Root Cause analysis in compliance with facility procedure. Works in collaboration with team to assure documentation for the nursing process including, but not limited to, daily and monthly notes, care plans, teaching records, etc. are consistently completed in a timely manner. Ensures all documentation is objective, meets Department of Health and other regulatory requirements and is consistent with facility policy and procedure. Continually assesses the resources needed to effectively manage and uphold standards of care on the unit. Seeks resources that are needed, including supplies, equipment, maintenance and environmental services support. Demonstrates knowledge of progressive disciplinary process for both bargaining unit, and non-bargaining unit employees. Utilizes the progressive disciplinary process, including coaching and counseling, to assure staff is continually receiving feedback regarding performance and that improvement in performance is identified and monitored in a timely, professional manner. Demonstrates understanding of policies that monitor and follow up any resident care issues, family complaints or variation from SDOH regulation and facility policy. This includes, The New York State Resident Abuse and Neglect reporting regulations. Communicates on a regular basis with Director of Nursing to assure problems are solved and opportunities for improvement are identified. Collaborates with off shift and other administrative personnel to assure consistency of practice across all three shifts on a continual basis. Works in conjunction with Nursing Education to identify areas of need and provide in-service training and education to staff in accordance with resident and family needs. Performs other responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate or as may be directed by the department director or administrator for continuity of care or benefit of the facility. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: Acute or Long Term Pediatric Experience preferred. Nurse Manager/Supervisory Experience preferred. Ventilator experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary. Licenses, Certifications: Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State. Current BCLS certification. PALS Certification preferred. Physical Requirements : Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions. Able to lift up to 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids. An individual in this position may be exposed to: Adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), and Chemical hazards. Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Job Posting Summary ** Sign-on bonus eligible-up to $10,000 ** Baptist Medical Center is looking to add a Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Operating Room at Wolfson Children's Hospital. This is a Full-time, Days opportunity. This role requires call with a 30-minute response time and qualifies for competitive call and differential pay. As a Registered Nurse in the Main Operating Room, you will work closely with physicians and all operating room teams. This Registered Nurse will check-in and receive patient assignments. A day in the life of this Operating Room Registered Nurse will vary based on scheduled surgeries. This RN may work with a singular patient in a complex case or may work with multiple patients having shorter procedures. This RN will work as a Circulating Nurse and will meet patients in the OR and remain with them for the duration of their procedure to ensure they are appropriately cared for until transferred to PACU care. As a Registered Nurse Circulator, you will be the patient’s primary advocate and responsible for the delivery and documentation of patient care during the intra-operative period. This may include verifying patient information, positioning the patient, managing the room, and initiating counts.
