This department is an 24 bed patient unit, that is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to patients with complex neurological conditions. Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member. Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives. Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice. Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meeting needs. Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation. Required Qualifications Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. Comer Emergency Department is a 21-bed, Level 1 Pediatric Academic Trauma Center dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based care to the children of South Side of Chicago and beyond. With 2 trauma bays, 1 special procedures room and a dedicated resuscitation bay, we are equipped to handle the most critical situations. The Adult Emergency Department consists of 55 patient care rooms including a rapid assessment unit, six trauma/resuscitation suites and separate rooms for infection isolation, care of immune compromised patients, and psychiatric consultations. In the general care area, 45 rooms are fully equipped with critical care monitoring capabilities. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity . Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for our Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC). Sign On Bonus up to $10,000.00 and Relocation Available The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The APP will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical support, as well as administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Cancer Service Line leadership. The APP has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to deliver high quality care to hematology/oncology patients. The Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC) i s an APP-staffed clinic area that cares for cancer patients who require urgent, same day/next day assessment and treatment. Hematology Oncology often require acute care for symptoms of malignancy as well as for the toxicities and side effects of cancer treatments. After an orientation period, the APP will work autonomously and collaboratively with the rest of the ORAC APP team. The APP will utilize evidence based practice in close collaboration with University of Chicago heme/onc faculty, APPs, pharmacists and nurses. This candidate will be trained in the management of both hematologic and solid tumor malignancies, as well as oncologic emergencies (eg neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity due to therapeutic agents, DIC, HLH, sepsis, and cord compression).
