Overview The Clinical Decision Unit is on the first floor of the Kelemen building. We are a locked unit and require a badge to enter or ring the doorbell to be let in. The Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is a35-bed, single-room unit.The patients are typically here for observation or if needed to be admitted as an inpatient they will stay in CDU until a floor bed is available. Multidisciplinary rounds are done Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. The Express Admit Unit (EXAU) is under the management of the CDU. There are 6-bed areas where the admitted patients stay until a floor bed is available. This gives them privacy and care while waiting for their room to be available. Both CDU and EXAU can have patients on telemetry for cardiac monitoring. REGISTERED NURSE - MED SURG - TELEMETRY, KELEMEN 8 NORTH

Other duties as required Overview Kelemen 8 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, illnesses and disease processes. North and South 8 have telemetry capabilities for our patients. Kelemen 8 has frequent admissions and discharges. Kelemen 8 can accept a total of 77 patients. The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Short Description Work as Registered Nurse-First Assist (RNFA) in Surgical operating rooms assisting Surgeons across our surgical Divisions: Applied knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques relative to operative procedures as RN First Assist while applying principles of asepsis and infection control skillfully Performs position, prepping, and draping of the patient Handles tissue as directed by the surgeon during the operative procedure while providing exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning/sponging techniques Performs wound closure as directed by the surgeon; sutures the peritoneum, fascia, subcutaneous tissues, and skin with application of surgical dressings Assists with transfer of the patient from the operating room Recognizes safety hazard and initiates appropriate corrective actions while practicing within limitation of preparation and experience Performs pre/post-operative evaluation and teaching Maintains Continuing Education and teaching Visits patients and makes rounds with/without the sponsoring physician; writing assessments on progress notes, which must be co-signed by sponsoring surgeon May write post-operative orders as directed by operating surgeon, which are signed immediately by the operating surgeon, while the patient is in the recovery room. (RNFA may NOT dictate or write operative reports or discharge summaries) In the event of incapacity or unavailability of the operating surgeon during a major surgical procedure, the functions of a first assist, who is not a surgeon, shall be limited to maintaining the status of the patient while a substitute operating surgeon is summoned, except in matters of dire emergency. “Dire Emergency” shall include only those circumstances posing a significant risk of imminent death or serious bodily injury to the patient, such as uncontrolled bleeding. The unit specializes in labor and delivery of uncomplicated and high-risk pregnancies. The Obstetrical Triage unit consists of 7 triage bays as well as 2 non-stress test chairs. Any patient 16 weeks pregnant or greater to 6 weeks post-partum is seen in OB Triage. Patients are seen for various complaints as well as for iron/blood infusions, and Rhogam injections. Experience Required 2 years minimum Labor & Delivery experience as an RN required. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse); Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers); certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS). Special Requirements Per diem, 7pm-7am, Weekends/holidays with rotation. Level Two Pool Work Requirements : Nurses shall work at least three (3) weekend shifts per six (6) week schedule, and six other shifts per six (6) week schedule, which must include four(4) holiday shifts per year (two (2) winter and two (2) summer). Weekend shifts are defined as Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for the day shift; the 3 rd weekend shift can be the RNs choice. Nurses must schedule themselves for the full shift, as assigned, in order to meet these work requirements.

The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family. Experience Required A minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, with 1 year of demonstrated leadership abilities.
