About this unit 8NE & NW, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients that typically have a cardiac related diagnosis such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI) and heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach). We also provide pre and post procedure care to patients that have undergone cardiac procedures, such as catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, and placement of pacemakers, and defibrillators. Our nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified. All patients are continuously monitored by telemetry. Inpatient Rehab Nursing Assistant

About the unit We are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson’s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. This is a very rewarding unit to work on, as we all get to take part in the progress patients make towards their goal of getting home. About the unit The Short Stay Unit/Observation Unit is a 50 bed unit (private rooms), specialized in caring for the adult population with a variety of diagnoses. A multi-disciplinary team approach in care, treatment and disposition within 23 hours. Grand Rapids, MI 49525. This is our primary location where we see a mix of adult and pediatric patients Monday through Friday, 7am – 5pm. Most pediatric patients are seen at the 35 Michigan HDVCH Allergy office. The providers split their time between the adult, Clear Vista location and the HDVCH office. There is currently one physician and one physician assistant that see patients at the Grand Haven Center in Grand Haven, MI 4 days/week. The main diagnosis we see in clinic are environmental, food, and drug allergies along with asthma, chronic hives, and immune deficient problems. We have a growing team of providers, nurses, medical assistants, and ambulatory care technicians. This MA would work in tandem with our nurses and providers to support our patients clinically. The MA will assist with patient rooming, allergy testing, allergy immunotherapy injections, vaccine administration, spirometry along with chart prepping, phone calls, patient messages, faxes, medication authorizations, and quality assurance tasks. The APP will manage ventilators, sedation, hemodynamics, and diagnostics, and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams. Clinical expertise in managing complex conditions such as shock, sepsis, respiratory failure, heart and renal failure, arrhythmias, and post-operative cardiac patients is essential. Responsibilities may include advanced procedures such as central and arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheter placement, and point-of-care ultrasound. Additionally, the APP may sit on committees and participate in Quality and Process Improvement Initiatives. This is a 24/7 service requiring rotation through days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with regional cross-coverage at other hospital sites.
