Our patient population consists of primarily Cardiology and Vascular surgery patients, and 5 West is also the home unit for surgical oncology and plastic surgery. The nurses on this unit can manage a-lines, lumbar drains, and titrate cardiac drips. Nurse: patient ratios range from 1:2-1:4 based on patient acuity.
