LPN - NURSE EXTERN - CASUAL

Essential Job Functions Under the direction of the RN preceptor, provides patient care through an interdisciplinary approach by assessing, planning, providing care and evaluating outcomes. Assures necessary communication with the healthcare team to assist the patient in meeting their goals. Under the direction of the RN preceptor, performs nursing interventions and documents according to policy and procedure assuring patient safety. Ie: medication administration, medication reconciliation, fall prevention, VTE prevention, and all prescribed interventions as appropriate. Assists the RN preceptor in the practice of professional nursing by providing direct patient care to promote patient comfort and facilitate the performance of diagnostic and treatment procedures as outlined in the nursing care plan. Performs assigned tasks that make include activities of daily living such as dietary and hygiene needs. Assists in ambulating, turning, and positioning patients as well as transporting patients, answering call lights, and reporting observations to the patient’s nurse. Demonstrates professional behavior, strong customer service and communication skill, when interacting with all individuals and groups, both internally and externally. Assists the RN with indirect care by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment to prevent and / or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse Program approved by the State Board of Nursing When enrolled in a BSN program: the student must be entering their senior year and have completed at least the medical/surgical clinical component of his/her educational experience. When enrolled in a Diploma/Associate program: the student must be entering their final year of nursing school. Must present proof of continued enrollment and passing grade(s) in nursing classes each semester until graduation and is in good academic standing. Preferred Qualifications N/A License, Certification & Clearances Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required. Job Summary The Technical Partner I, Weekend position provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. Essential Job Functions Deliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care. Demonstrate an ability to solve problems utilizing critical thinking skills and seeks assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate. Maintain accountability for actions taken. Effectively function as a resource person. Act as a patient advocate. Perform effectively in the role of preceptor/mentor to new hires and/or students. Assist in maintaining/decreasing organizational/departmental costs. Assist in the department's compliance with state, Joint Commission, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Assist in continuous survey readiness for inspections and surveys. Adhere to the infection control process, including standard precautions, to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections. Assist with maintaining sufficient and proper supplies on an assigned unit. Assist with monitoring sterile supplies for expiration date and replaces as needed. Provide for patient safety in compliance with hospital and nursing department policies. Utilize two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care. Job Summary The Technical Partner provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN.
