Department : Emergency Services Daily Work Times: 7p - 7:30a Shift: Nights Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours : 72 Position Summary: Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintained standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Unit Based Competencies – Emergency Assesses patients for suicidal tendencies and ideations, as indicated. Assesses and treats pediatric fever, utilizing age specific competencies. Appropriately assesses and treats abdominal pain and headaches in patients of all ages. In collaboration with other healthcare team members, assesses and treats lacerations and extremity injuries. Assesses adult patients for dyspnea and provides treatment as indicated. Based on the patient’s clinical condition, administers high risk medications safely, effectively and accurately. Effectively manages the care of the trauma patient in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Effectively assesses and manages the care of the stroke patient in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Transfuses blood in a safe and timely manner Safely handles body fluids contaminated by toxic chemicals to protect patients, healthcare workers and the public.
