Patient safety is the avoidance of unintended or unexpected harm to people during the provision of health care. Working in conjunction with the Patient Safety Officer, this role assists in setting out an approach to developing and maintaining effective systems and processes for responding to patient safety incidents for the purpose of learning and improving patient safety. The Clinical Leadership and Patient Safety Team assure safe and effective clinical services through a full range of clinical governance activities, with a core function of producing documents that guide practice, quality assurance of clinical practice, and learning from incidents. The Patient Safety Coordinator works as part of the Patient Safety Team to ensure effective processing of patient safety incidents and coordinate organizational learning.
