Ideal Candidate will have: - 2+ years advanced practice and medical oncology experience is preferred. - Prior oncology RN experience is preferred for NP applicants. - Proficiency with Epic and EMRs preferred. - EPIC Inbasket management, telemedicine experience preferred. - Familiarity with clinical trials preferred. The hematologic malignancies and solid tumor oncology APP provides comprehensive ambulatory care to one or more disease specific medical oncology patient populations depending on location of care within our academic or network practices. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider promotes a collaborative relationship between all providers, professional nurses and administrative staff, to ensure continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. The APP is responsible for the assessment and management of medical oncology patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and development and implementation of appropriate plans of care across the trajectory of illness for patients with hematologic malignancies and/or solid tumor malignancies. In addition to providing direct and indirect patient care, the medical oncology APP serves as a role model for professional advanced practice and participates in the professional development of the team through teaching, committee involvement or quality and safety initiatives. The medical oncology APP will provide thorough, compassionate, culturally sensitive clinical care and should demonstrate operational flexibility and strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills in order to work effectively with other members of the team. The NP/PA is responsible for: • Performs and records the patient history and physical examination and discusses findings with the collaborating team. Obtaining and coordinating laboratory results, charting of clinical findings in the EMR, orders, nursing instructions, and other required elements. • Utilizes advanced practice knowledge to identify, prevent or solve complex and/or recurring breast oncology patient care problems. • Follows and manages patients (in collaboration with MD) enhancing continuity of care. • Performs (oversees/assures completion of) specialized procedures particular to the select medical oncology population mutually agreed upon with collaborating physician. • Collaborates with staff and physicians to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources and write appropriate orders improving access to care, establishing goals for the delivery of care to patients, participating in clinical research, and managing communications between physicians, patients, family, and staff. • Appreciates complex medication interactions. • Ensuring appropriate diagnostic procedures occur in a timely matter through careful coordination with other services such as radiology, facilitating various clinic appointments, communicating with patients regarding test results, and providing coverage for the team. • Educating patients regarding a variety of medical oncology issues associated with local or systemic therapy. • Indications and interpretation of radiology, pathology, and laboratory results. • Understands the complex medical environments of cancer patients including, but not limited to, those with advanced malignancy or organ dysfunction. • Writes orders which are in accord with current guidelines including antineoplastics. • Maintains and practices in accord with practice guidelines per state and hospital regulations. These include first stage recovery of routine EENT cases which can include ICU, PICU, Neuro ICU, SICU. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support our Family Medicine practice on-site Monday through Friday from 9:15am-5:45pm. During staffing shortages or cross coverage purposes, there could be times to work in another specialty suite at this location. As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the care team. The ideal candidate profile is an experienced, adaptable Medical Assistant who is confident in their clinical abilities and genuinely enjoys variety. We ideally aim to have our clinical support staff members working 1:1 or 1:2 with assigned providers, but they do cross-cover, rotate, and collaborate with other providers as needed. They can see upwards of 20+ patients per day. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. Yes Essential Functions -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
