The successful candidate: Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of critically ill medical and surgical adolescent/adult patients. Provides acute care per protocols. Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care. Cares for med surg and telemetry patients as necessary. Recovers MAC local patients when PACU not open. Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms /trends, and institute appropriate interventions. Caring for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients. Initiating and maintain complex IV therapy , including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines. Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors. Must be able to work 7:00a-7:00p Qualifications Your qualifications should include: Critical Care/Telemetry experience or Telemetry competency within 6 months of hire. State of Illinois Registered Nurse License. Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through American Heart Association upon hire and maintained in position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified through American Heart Association upon hire and maintained in position. ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy or Chemotherapy Immunotherapy course obtained within 6 months of hire for experienced RN’s and 12 months for New Grad RNs. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)certification within 6 months of hire and maintained in position. Oncology Certification through ONCC when eligible or 6 oncology CE every year (18 oncology CE total every 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle. Position Summary Surgical Technologist staff may work in one or both of the Perioperative settings (Main Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center or procedural clinic) or in Central Sterilizing Services. In the Perioperative setting, Surg Techs work under the direction of Staff Nurses and assist with surgical procedures, the provision of therapeutic, preventive and emergency patient care duties; and the preparation, operation and maintenance of routine and complex equipment, instruments and supplies and implants. In Central Sterilizing Services, Surg Techs work under the supervision of CSS management. They complete all aspects of sterile processing including decontamination, supply and instrument preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, distribution of sterile medical devices, inventory, stocking, and distribution of medical supplies. Duties To Include Communicates and interacts with patients, visitors, and other health care professionals in an effective manner and maintains positive, cooperative relationships. Accesses reference materials via computer systems, follows guides and instructions to assemble high volumes of complex instrument and implant trays. Inspects and evaluates instruments for function and cleanliness. Confirms all quality assurance mechanisms are in place. Labels, seals and documents all items processed. Performs all aspects of sterilization, packaging inspection, equipment operation, safety procedures, proper documentation, and prioritization. Sterilizes items per manufacturer’s instructions, verifies correct parameters used for all instruments. Assembles case carts in accordance with patient/surgeon procedure specific cards within appropriate time frame and documents missing items. Performs duties in a high stress environment, responds to emergencies and urgent add-on cases. Receives and responds to a high volume of phone calls to provide additional items as needed. Maintains a high level of customer service. Performs regular biological monitoring of sterilizers to ensure sterilizer efficacy. The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking to fill multiple positions (60-100%) for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) to support QuickCare and Urgent Care clinics . These positions will support our Iowa City (Corridor) and Quad Cities locations . Our Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) perform direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services within our Walk-in Clinics. UI Walk-in Clinics provide care to try to save our patients a trip to the emergency room. We’re open evenings, weekends, and even some holidays. Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities Provide care responsibilities in both our QuickCare and Urgent Care Clinics, will rotate clinical sites. Urgent Care requires at least 6 months of prior experience. Obtain medical history and perform physical examination. Assess, assist, diagnose and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings. Perform or assist in and interpret the performance of laboratory and related studies. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, the suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation and other clinical procedures.
