Job Summary and Qualifications C VOR Surgical Technologist support patient care in the perioperative setting by assisting surgeons and nursing staff before, during and after surgical procedures . What you will do in this role: The role of the CVOR Surgical Technician is to assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment and supplies. The CVOR Surgical Technician in Surgery provides care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older . The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure . The CVOR Surgical Technician understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon . The CVOR Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field . When the CVOR Surgical Technician is in the second scrub role they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera . What q ualifications y ou w ill n eed: Associates Degree or Vocational School Graduate or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required ; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required ; Technician in Surgery (NCCT) preferred; Certified Operating Room Technician preferred. Two years’ general OR experience required ; CVOR experience preferred Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients.
