Job Summary Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room. -Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery. -Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure. -Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures. -Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies. -Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used. -Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team. -Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions. -Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon. Area Assignment: Main Operating Room *During assignment, may be asked to float to any Southcoast Hospital: Charlton Memorial—Fall River, St. Luke’s—New Bedford and Tobey--Wareham Southcoast Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Perform various duties including but not limited to: provide assistance to surgical team during the intra-operative phase, provide aseptic, safe, appropriately equipped and functional surgical environment. Responsible for OR preparation, instrument supply and assembly, maintenance of sterile fields, hands off instruments and initiation of counts throughout procedures. Perform Surgical Technologist duties including on-call duties as need or required. Qualifications Equal to completion of 4 years of high school plus additional specialized courses or training is required. Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology Program is required. Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologist is required. Certification in Basic Life Support is required. One (1) year of Surgical Technologist experience is required. Pay Range USD $40.74 - USD $73.18 /Hr.
