Demonstrates ability to appropriately set up for a surgical/ endo procedure and follow protocol in the counting of supplies/instrument to ensure no foreign object is left inside of the patient. Understands the principles of and is able to competently assist a physician during a procedure and possesses adequate knowledge of the procedure itself. Displays the ability to differentiate sutures and their applications. Demonstrates the ability to follow through until problems are addressed or corrected. Alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated. Demonstrates a teamwork approach in the care of a patient during the perioperative phase. Participates in department’s process improvement activities. OR Technician The OR Technician performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Scrub Tech will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.
