Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is the South metro area’s full-service medical center, with the friendly feel of a community hospital and the skill and services of a much larger medical center. Among our specialties: stroke, chest pain, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care, orthopedic and total joint surgery and a birth center and breast health center. Responsibilities Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized. Current acute care Endo experience in basic and advanced procedures strongly preferred. IV sedation experience preferred. Must be able to meet the 45-minute call requirement. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers. Medical Assistant Extern Clinics

Overview Appointments to this job are always temporary, lasting no more than 6 months as part of a Medical Assisting training program. This is an on-site position, based in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. Candidates must reside in either Oregon or Washington state to be employed with Legacy Health. The Medical Assistant Extern Clinics is supervised at all times by a Lead Medical Assistant (MA), MA preceptor, or designee. This position is a learning opportunity for students currently enrolled in a Medical Assisting program, designed to develop skills and build clinical competency. LMG utilizes the “married state” preceptor/preceptee model. The Medical Assistant Extern Clinics is responsible for assisting with patient care, maintaining department/clinic efficiency, and other appropriate duties as assigned. This role participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a physician, while participating in daily clinic operations under the supervisor or manager. Responsibilities Prepares patients and rooms for exams and procedures. Performs basic laboratory testing, point of care testing, phlebotomy and other quality controls under supervision. Administers medications with direct supervision as directed by a physician or nurse practitioner. Assists physician/nurse practitioner with exams and procedures. Performs procedures with supervision until full competency has been documented by Lead, preceptor or designee. Accurately documents medical information in the patient records. Tracks and routes test results to physician(s) or nurse practitioner(s) for review, and file results in medical records per site operation practices. Communicates test results with patients when deemed appropriate by physician or nurse practitioner. Facilitates patient care activities, to include scheduling ancillary tests and reinforcing patient education, with direct supervision as appropriate and directed by physician nurse practitioner per site operation practices. Maintains adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies. Demonstrates and maintains professional behavior in accordance with established standards. Exercises timely, concise, and appropriate use of telephone to meet needs of external and internal customers. Performs basic computer tasks in using electronic health record proficiently while conducting daily documentation and communications involved in patient care. Processes orders appropriately and accurately but does not sign or otherwise authorize orders. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience : Health care experience preferred. Education Current enrollment in a Medical Assisting program. Skills: Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required. Pay Range USD $19.13 - USD $19.13 /Hr. Overview The Medical Assistant is responsible for efficient and courteous registration, transfer and discharge of patients within established policies and procedures; thoroughly compiles and types of medical information for patients' records and statistical reports and maintains current and accurate patient account receivables. The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for the comfort and well-being of patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Responsibilities • Performs basic patient care procedures as required. • Participates in conferences and serves on committees as requested. • Participates in patient and family education as necessary. • Prepares for and assists with diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. • Takes and records vital signs, height, and weight. • Performs catheterizations and provides catheter care. • Administers oral and intra-muscular medications. • Cares for patients receiving oxygen therapy. • Applies sterile and non-sterile compresses and bandages. • Tests urine for sugar, acetone, and pH. • Assists with physical examinations. • Applies ace bandages and hot and/or cold compresses. • Collects specimens including blood, urine, stool, and sputum. • May perform venipunctures and EKGs as needed. • Maintains cleanliness, safety, and efficiency in the clinic. • Remains alert and responds appropriately in emergency situations. • Prepares used equipment for re-sterilization. • Understands legal requirements for reporting to police, health departments, and other agencies and follows all reporting requirements. • Accompanies or transfers patients to other departments such as the laboratory or x-ray department. • Cleans and stocks examination rooms. • Manages time effectively to expedite patient flow. • Assists with minor outpatient surgery procedures. • Greets patients courteously, determines their needs, and offers assistance. • Registers patients by performing necessary procedures, including preparation of records, reports, notices, service charge slips, and payor information. • Interviews patients, relatives, or others responsible to determine payment arrangements and refers unusual cases to the immediate supervisor. • May assist self-pay patients in making suitable arrangements for balances due beyond initial deposits or third-party payments. • Answers inquiries regarding patient accounts and advises patients on insurance benefits. • Receives payments and deposits, issues receipts, and maintains proper accounting of funds received. • Posts charges daily to the proper patient account. • Posts payments to accounts daily. • Determines billing methods for third-party payors. • Contacts insurance carriers and agencies to obtain precertification of ancillary, admission, and surgical procedures. • Operates various office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and other assigned equipment. • Operates communication systems, including placing and answering telephone calls and contacting staff as needed. • May make and maintain appointment schedules for clinic physicians. • May secure required signatures on reports and records relative to release of information in accordance with policies and procedures. • Contacts patients, physicians, or others for information necessary to properly complete insurance or other billing requirements. • Types memos, correspondence, and other documents as needed. • Compiles periodic and statistical reports and other data as directed. Qualifications Education • High School Diploma required. • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Training Program preferred. Experience • Up to one (1) year of experience required. • Three (3) to six (6) months of on-the-job training required to attain proficiency of assigned duties and responsibilities if not certified.
