Description Shift: PRN Position (48 hours month required) 8-hour shift Days Location: Travel between locations within Emory Healthcare Salary: $28.00 Our internal travel nursing team can be a flexible program, allowing team members the ability to tailor work/life balance to fit their lifestyle. We are seeking a capable Medical Assistant who Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a licensed provider, RN or LPN. Responsible for routine clinical duties such as taking vital signs, administering a limited profile of medications per The Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting. As part of a patient focused service, promotes a supportive and healing environment to enhance customer and staff satisfaction. Assists in emergency situations as directed by a licensed provider, RN or LPN. May also be responsible for some administrative duties in support of patient and practice operations including patient check in/out, responding to patient requests, reinforcing patient and family education and visitor/telephone reception. Maintains patients' charts and records data, ensuring proper identification, documentation, routing and confidentiality. Maintains a clean and healthy environment in compliance with Universal Precaution guidelines and safety standards. Orders, verifies and stores unit supplies. Performs related responsibilities as required. All duties and patient interaction performed in accordance with Emory Healthcare patient and family centered care standards. May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Basic computer skills required. One (1) years’ relevant work experience required. Successful completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school, military hospital corps, medic or equivalent training, or successful completion of practical, diploma, associate or baccalaureate nursing program. Current Medical Assistant Certification in one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA). Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be renewed throughout employment. Provide clinical care and respond to health emergencies using established procedures, safety techniques, and standard precautions. How you make a difference The LVN Travel supports the delivery of patient care within assigned correctional healthcare settings as part of a traveling team. This role assists with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The position guides patient teaching and clinical activities based on demonstrated competencies and scope of practice. This role adapts to different clinical environments while supporting safe, compliant, and consistent care delivery. Key Responsibilities Assist with patient assessment, care planning, and implementation of individualized treatment programs under RN supervision. Administer medications, obtain diagnostic tests, and carry out medical plans according to practitioner orders and protocols. Provide clinical care and respond to health emergencies using established procedures, safety techniques, and standard precautions. Document nursing encounters and communicate patient information to healthcare providers and staff. Support daily clinical operations, including controlled substance counts and assisting with procedures as needed. Additional Details Travel LVN opportunities with Wellpath are primarily based in California, with current needs at sites such as Shasta, Placer, San Luis Obispo, and Fresno. Assignments can vary by location, but most shifts are 12-hour days or nights, with some 8-hour options and weekend rotations depending on the site. Candidates must hold an active California nursing license in good standing and have at least three years of nursing experience; correctional experience is preferred but not required. Overall, this role is best suited for nurses who are adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable stepping into diverse correctional environments to support patient care where it’s needed most. Pay Range: Pay is based on experience.
