Job Summary: Surgical Nurse Navigator The Surgical Nurse Navigator is an essential member of the surgical care team who serves as a resource and advocate for patients throughout their surgical journey. This role coordinates care, provides patient education and support, and works closely with surgeons and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure a safe, seamless experience from preoperative preparation through postoperative follow-up. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serves as a primary point of contact and resource for surgical patients and families. Communicates patient needs and changes in condition to the appropriate members of the healthcare team. Assists patients and families in accessing appropriate clinical and community resources. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess carts, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing nursing procedures. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Assure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for the next shift. Assure that work schedules are followed. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights. Attend nursing department, Care Plan, and other meetings as directed by the DON or ADON.
