Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) and Clinical Director in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding nursing staff in delivering high-quality, compassionate hospice care. This role requires a balance of leadership, clinical expertise, and organizational skills.

 

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8:30A-4:30P

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in managing daily clinical operations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, ensuring adherence to hospice standards of care.
  • Oversee patient assessments, care planning, and care delivery to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Participate in staff training, education, and professional development initiatives.
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, and coordination of interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation regulations.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff, patients, and families.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in audits/reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey (required).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year hospice REQUIRED.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hospice regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care.

I. Qualifications Skilled Nurse from an Accredited program currently licensed and in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. One to 2 years’ experience in nursing in an acute care setting or 1-year experience in home health, hospice or comparable experience is preferred. Responsibilities It is the responsibility of the Visit Nurse to coordinate and provide the highest level of hospice care to patients and families. Training may be in-house or outside seminars. Evidence of orientation and training will become part of the personnel file. IV. On Call The Case Manager Nurse will be on call according to scheduling. During the hours when on call, the Visit Nurse is expected to follow On Call Protocol and to respond to all pages within 20 minutes. V. Accountability Reports directly to the Nurse Case Manager and Director of Nursing. The Nurse Case Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
