MAIN FUNCTION:
The Staff Nurse is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Reports to the Heart & Vascular Clinical Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Heart Institute Ambulatory Care Unit (HIACU) involving prep and recovery of Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Radiology patients.
- Schedules and performs pre-admission testing for Cath, EP, Vascular, and IR patients along with preparing the charts for the procedure.
- Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position
- Maintains as adequate stock of supplies.
- Is skilled in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

- This position is 0700-1530, No Holidays and No Call.
EDUCATION:
Registered Nurse; current NYS licensure. ACLS preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Critical care experience encouraged, but not required.
Cardiac/Telemetry experience required
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Cardiac experience required. Previous Critical Care/ICU experience desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to be on feet much of time. Appreciable physical effort including lifting, reaching, stooping, moving patients and pushing of beds and stretchers.

Category I. Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
