School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Kansas City, Missouri

Step into a dynamic contract role that allows you to make a real impact in the lives of students across PreK-12th grade settings. This position offers the unique opportunity to float between sites within a reputable school district near Kansas City, MO, covering a range of health room responsibilities and supporting students throughout the district. As the primary RN at your assigned schools, you’ll manage daily health needs, respond to emergencies, and ensure a nurturing, safe environment.

Your week-to-week schedule will be sent each Sunday and may change with little notice based on school activities and staffing needs, including occasional field trip accompaniment. Flexibility, clear communication, and adaptability are crucial to success in this varied and rewarding assignment.

Qualifications:

  • Active and unencumbered RN license in Missouri (checked via Nursys)
  • Recent pediatric nursing experience—ideally in ICU, ER, or a school setting
  • Technologically savvy; comfortable with computer-based charting and multitasking
  • Strong communicator, able to work independently and adapt to changing environments
  • Experience with PreK-12 populations; no new graduates, please
  • Willingness to float among multiple district sites and participate in field trips

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care to students, from minor first aid to emergency response
  • Run daily operations of the health room as the sole RN on site after an initial training period
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation
  • Collaborate with school staff, students, and families to promote health and safety
  • Adapt quickly to schedule or location changes
