Job Description
Under the supervision of the Ambulatory Patient Care Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Hematology, Blood & Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Clinic is responsible for providing direct and indirect clinical care to adult outpatients who have a variety of hematologic, immunologic, and oncologic conditions.
Care is provided through the systematic application of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. All components of this process are individualized to meet the physiological, psychosocial and developmental needs of the patients.
The nurse performs ongoing assessments and modifies the care planning process as needed, to ensure continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, homecare, home, and multiple providers. The RN is actively involved in patient, staff and provider education. The nurse participates in clinical research activities within the program and incorporates research findings into planning and implementation of care.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Two years of recent nursing experience caring for patients in an adult hematology/ blood and marrow transplant/cellular therapy program
- Six months of recent nursing experience caring for patients in an outpatient hematology program
- Active RN licensure in State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card
- Demonstrated ability to apply fundamental nursing assessment and triage via telephone, electronic systems and in person to patients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy and/or stem cell transplant
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
- Demonstrated nursing leadership activities
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, problem-solve, think critically and communicate calmly and effectively in complex situations
- Must be comfortable navigating and documenting in multiple electronic systems
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
- Specialty certification pertaining to the target patient population (ex: OCN, BMTCN)
- Active RN licensure in State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card
