Summary:
In collaboration with the leadership team focuses on departmental operations. Supervises personnel and coordinates shift activities of Nursing. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects the mission and values at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. Serves as a role model for nurses, physicians, and department support staff, exhibiting the Core Values in all activities. Mentors under the Clinical Manager / Director and pursues management and leadership training within the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. May be assigned to special projects per Clinical Manager / Director consistent with strategic, fiscal, quality and operational goals/targets.
In collaboration with management, coordinates the team to deliver patient care in a compassionate and ethical manner according to recognized standards and care model. Functions as the clinical & operating resource with designated hours of accountability exercising independent judgment. Ensures compliance with entity/department goals and clinical resource utilization. Promotes change and teamwork. Performs clinical duties of the patient care role related to professional specialty, when needed.
Experience:
1. A minimum of three years RN experience preferred.
2. Previously demonstrated leadership and effective communication preferred.
3. Experience in a high acuity setting with strong clinical judgement, critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
4. Certification within area of expertise or practice preferred (Nursing Management, CCRN, CEN, etc.).

1. Advocate for patients and families, particularly in complex clinical situations, promoting patient satisfaction through timely communication and service recovery as needed.
2. Maintain a visible presence to patients, families, and staff throughout the hospital.
3. Initiate, coordinate, and oversee staffing for assigned departments using established guidelines.
4. Lead staffing huddles with nursing leadership and make real‑ time staffing adjustments to ensure safe, balanced coverage.
5. Prioritize patient safety in all staffing decisions, even when decisions are difficult or conflict arises.
6. Serve as a financial steward by identifying waste and following established algorithms for staffing adjustments.
7. Collaborate with the Pulse Center to support bed management, patient flow, and emergent and non‑ emergent transfers.
8. Prioritize patient condition, anticipated needs, and potential risks, and assist with bed placement.
9. Maintain situational awareness by rounding on unit(s) to assess operational needs and barriers to care.
10. Facilitate timely discharges and support efficient patient throughput.
11. Participate in and lead investigations as appropriate, including patient safety events, complaints, and operational issues, ensuring timely escalation and follow‑ up.
12. Promote a culture of quality and safety by identifying risks, reinforcing best practices, and supporting compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
13. Build relationships with staff and patients while educating and mentoring staff to promote accountability, quality, and safe care delivery.
14. Assumes patient care assignment when needed.
15. Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient care.
