School Registered Nurse (RN) in Wheaton, IL

Looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to support high school students at a school near Wheaton, IL, during a maternity leave coverage. This contract assignment begins October 26, 2026, and is expected to run through January 22, 2027, with the possibility of extension. Full-time, school-based hours are 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, following the school's calendar.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Previous experience in a school nurse setting, specifically with high school students
  • Must submit RN certification/license and current resume with application
  • Experience supporting a diverse student population preferred
  • LPN credentials are not accepted for this role

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing services, emergency care, and first aid to students and staff in alignment with legal requirements and school policies
  • Document and administer medication, ensuring secure storage and timely reporting
  • Work collaboratively with the Certified School Nurse on wellness initiatives, special projects, and the management of health plans for chronic conditions
  • Support the maintenance of accurate health records and facilitate compliance with state mandates for immunizations and medical documentation
  • Regularly check and report AED (Automated External Defibrillator) maintenance needs
  • Act as a mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse or neglect
  • Assist with the operation and organization of the school health office
