American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience and a broad range of cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgical skills. Job details: - Work setting: CVOR within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital - Average daily census of 10 patients across 4 OR rooms - Patient ratio is 1:1 - Required cardiovascular procedures include: Aortic Aneurysm repair, Atrial Septal defect repair, CABG, ECMO, Femoral Cannulation, IABP, LVAD, MAZE Procedure, Mitral valve replacement, PDA, Pericardial window, TAVR, and Scrub Cardiovascular Surgery - Required vascular procedures include: AAA repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Atherectomy, Carotid Endarterectomy, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, Scrub Vascular Surgery, and Vein stripping - Required thoracic procedures include: Lobe resection, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracotomy, VATS, and Scrub Thoracic Surgery - Required endoscopic procedures include: Bronchoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement/exchange, and Scrub Endoscopic Surgery - Whipple procedure experience is required - Schedule: Days, 4x10-hour shifts (06:15–16:45) - On-call required 1–2 nights per week and every 5th weekend - Charting system: Cerner - Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities is required - Scrubs are provided for this role - Free parking on-site with a permit obtained during orientation Requirements: - Active Illinois (IL) RN license required; must be active and in hand or in the active application process - Required certifications: BLS (AHA or Red Cross); ACLS preferred — RQI cards are not accepted - Minimum 3 years of CVOR or Major OR (MOR) experience required - CVOR and General OR work setting experience required - Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred - Teaching hospital experience required - Required professional skills: Laser Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) Procedure - SSN and DOB required for consideration Additional information: - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility - Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this OR RN role - Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler - RTO requests of up to 5 non-holiday days may be approved; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval - Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays - Orientation begins with a virtual, at-home day; all assigned modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1 - Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager
