American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and charge-level competency. Job details: - Work setting is a 198-bed, Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah - Unit is the Childbirth Center, encompassing Labor & Delivery, Level 2 Special Care Nursery (SCN), and Postpartum - 17 beds with 2 triage rooms; unit averages approximately 75 deliveries per month - Patient population includes adult and newborn patients with diagnoses including labor, gestational diabetes (GDM), hypertension, IUGR, macrosomia, and drug use in pregnancy - Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards - Equipment used includes fetal monitors, iSTAT, and Freestyle - EHR systems are Cerner and Fetalink; experience with these systems is expected - Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week - Weekend hours vary - No call requirements - No float requirements - Contract option of 13 or 26 weeks Requirements: - Active NM or Compact RN license required - Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS (all must be from the American Heart Association), and AWHONN (must be renewed every 2 years) - Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery experience required - Postpartum couplet care experience required for all candidates - Nursery experience in a Level 2 nursery or higher acuity required for SCN positions - Charge-level experience required - Experience performing cervical exams required - Experience with infant delivery, including situations requiring RN assistance while on-call physician responds - Ability to practice with minimal supervision in a community hospital setting (not a teaching hospital; no resident physicians) - ADN or BSN required Additional information: - Preferred skills include fetal monitoring, neonatal stabilization, high-acuity troubleshooting, and strong triage assessment - Facility serves as a regional medical hub with trauma cases flown in from surrounding areas, including Level I, II, and III trauma cases - This is not a teaching hospital and does not have resident physicians; candidates must be comfortable practicing with a high degree of independence - An area-specific competency exam and skills checklist are required for consideration - Screening questions must be completed for consideration - Farmington, NM is located in the San Juan River Valley in northwest New Mexico, approximately 1 hour from Durango, CO and 3 hours from Albuquerque, NM - The area offers outdoor recreation including hiking, kayaking, off-roading, and access to six National Parks
