New York City Children's Center is recruiting an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric to function as the Assistant Director of the Outpatient Nursing Department facility-wide. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric, you will assist in the management, oversight, and evaluation of nursing and direct care services including:

  • Developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures
  • Overseeing, evaluating, and participating in recruitment, training, and continuing education programs for nursing and direct care staff
  • Supervising Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric and other nursing and direct care staff
  • Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric if they have:

  • License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and
  • 3 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities, or individuals in a medical-surgical or long-term care setting. 1 year of this experience must have been at a supervisory level.

Substitution:

A master’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience

A doctorate in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
