American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical experience at a Trauma Level I acute care hospital.
Job details:
- Work in the Operating Room department of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds
- 13-week assignment on day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:00 with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00
- May need to cover one night shift during the contract as needed
- Weekend work required
- On-call required, with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks, up to 6-8 shifts in a 6-week period including nights, evenings, and weekends
- Floating required between like units and potentially to nearby sister facilities
- Uses Epic EMR
- OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
- Free parking available
Requirements:
- Active CA RN license in hand (pending license not accepted)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, though 3 years required with 5 years preferred
- Trauma Level I hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience in vascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, and trauma surgical procedures required
- Experience with procedures including craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repair
- Familiarity with equipment such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources
- Knowledge of universal protocol time-out procedures, infection control, and emergency management protocols
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional information:
- Perform circulating and scrub RN duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, robotics, ENT, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures
- Support trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injury MVAs
- Assist with robotic-assisted surgeries using the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
- Handle administration of blood and blood products, specimen handling/labeling, and adherence to laser and radiation safety protocols
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Requested time off must be submitted at time of application
- May be required to float to sister facilities within the region
