Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care, first aid, and emergency medical response to students and staff.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policies.
  • Monitor students with chronic and acute medical conditions and respond appropriately to changes in health status.
  • Develop and maintain Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and student health records.
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments while maintaining accurate and confidential documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and academic success.
  • Participate in IEP, 504, and multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
  • Promote health education, wellness, and disease prevention throughout the school community.

Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Previous school nursing, pediatric, clinic, community health, or related nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with students, families, and school staff.
