A Brief Overview

This is a premium rate, full-time 40 weekly hour shifts dual position supporting the PACU at both the Bucks-Chalfont Surgery Center and Philadelphia Campuses.

At least 1 year pediatric PACU experience is required.

PALS and ACLS certifications preferred. Pediatric Critical Care experience (ICU) preferred.


The SWAT nurse is a highly skilled, highly trained experienced nurse who provides support to both the ASCs and the main hospital. The SWAT nurse is able to function independently to provide safe, quality and clinically competent care. The SWAT nurse is able to plan, implement, evaluate and document care that is in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

What you will do

  • 1. Nursing Practice

  • Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Synthesizes patient assessment data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with care team.

  • Collaborates with family, team members, and other caregivers to initiate/update plan of care, patient/family education, and discharge needs.

  • Manages care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.

  • Identifies expected outcomes, revises plan of care when unexpected outcomes arise, and begins to use full range of communication as a means of conveying plan.

  • Documents ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Provides care that meets professional standards of practice and meets regulatory requirements.

  • 2. Professionalism/Leadership

  • Role models appearance and behaviors that promote a positive image of nursing.

  • Interacts with parents/patients and colleagues with respect and dignity.

If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure.
