Job Function Summary:
Involves the provision of integrated and accessible primary and specialty patient care services in a clinic or center environment. Care is provided by clinicians and assistants who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs and developing a sustainable partnership with patients. Ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in healthcare clinics or centers. Promotes shared decision-making at all levels to ensure a shared voice in practices, exchange of ideas, enhanced communication, and continually improved patient services. Management levels may also be responsible for clinic operations. (Note, when primary focus is clinical operations, see Ambulatory Administration job function.)
Generic Scope
Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets.
Custom Scope
Manages the delivery of ambulatory patient care, which typically includes nursing, and may include laboratory, radiology, dental, etc. Facilitates the flow of patient care activities; may also participate in practice or center management operations.

Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaboartive decision making. Able to convey information with authority, handle highly sensitive matters, and interact with high level contacts from other departments/organizations. Req
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain technical specialty concepts thoroughly. Req
Strong leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives. Req
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine the appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions. Req
Highly devleoped personal organizational skills. Proven ability to organize staff and tasks, manage mulitple priorities/projects through completion and on schedule, oversee multiple locations, and delegate work functions in an efficient and effective manner in a complex and challenging environment. Flexibility to adjust to constantly changing priorities. Req
Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance. Req
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments. Req
Maintains current knowledge of nursing practices, dermatologic advancements, new methodologies, relevant industry/regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, medical center health and safety guidelines, and advances in the field of specimen processing, automation, and procedures. Req
Strong knowledge of quality assurance methods and ability to apply principles to design quality systems. Req
Ability to use laboratory applications/clinical softwares/databases/dashboards. Skills to perform data checks using queries, visual review, and other appropriate means to verify data accuracy. Req
Experience in large academic medical setting and ambulatory care. Pref
Experience using EMR-EPIC/APeX. Pref
Education & Experience

Bachelor of degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience. Req
Master’s degree in nursing or equivalent combination of experience/training. Pref
At least 5 years of clinical experience in nursing with 2 of those years in a dermatology setting. Pref
Minimum of 2 years of nursing supervisory experience in an outpatient clinic familiar with Dermatology diseases. Pref
Licenses
