Key Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois RN license
  • Must satisfy all Illinois-specific requirements before starting
  • Availability for an onsite panel interview at short notice
  • Strong background in trach care, suctioning, and respiratory treatments highly valued
  • Experience in school-based nursing or similar pediatric settings preferred
  • Willingness to ride the school bus with the student each day
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily trach care, including suctioning and cleanliness maintenance
  • Administer two morning inhaler treatments and manage students emergency medications
  • Support toileting routines while fostering student independence
  • Provide mealtime supervision: prepare appropriate portions and monitor for safe eating
  • Maintain consistent oversight of the students health and wellbeing during school hours (8:10 a.m. 2:10 p.m.)
  • Act as a professional and compassionate liaison between the student, family, and school staff
