Registered Nurse School Setting - Chesterfield, MO

Step into a rewarding part-time opportunity as a dedicated 1:1 nurse supporting a young student with complex medical needs during the afternoon session at an Early Childhood Center. In this contract role, you'll work weekdays with PM session hours from 12:05 to 3:15 p.m., with some additional time potentially needed for transportation to and from school.

You'll provide comprehensive care for a student diagnosed with epilepsy, global developmental delays, hypotonia (including needs related to slow transit constipation and dysphagia requiring thickened liquids), neuromuscular scoliosis, intermittent esotropia, and a rare genetic variant. Your expertise will ensure the student’s health and safety, empowering participation in classroom activities and supporting developmental progress.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (Registered Nurse) with clearance to practice in the state
  • Prior experience with school nursing or working with pediatric populations preferred
  • Strong skills in seizure recognition and management
  • Familiarity with care for global developmental delays and neuromuscular conditions
  • Competence in feeding protocols, especially those requiring texture modification
  • Ability to communicate professionally with families, school staff, and healthcare providers

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 nursing care during the PM session, including medical monitoring and intervention as needed
  • Manage daily care plans, medication administration, and specialized feeding protocols
  • Provide safe supervision during bus transportation to and from school, if required
  • Keep detailed documentation of care and any student incidents
  • Liaise with educators and therapists to foster a collaborative approach to the student’s learning and development
