Nurse Practitioner – Pre-Anesthesia Services

Berkshire Health Systems is seeking a skilled and collaborative Nurse Practitioner to join the Pre-Anesthesia Services Department at Berkshire Medical Center. This position offers the opportunity to play an essential role in preparing patients for safe and successful surgical and procedural care.

Working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nursing staff and other members of the perioperative team, the Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive preoperative evaluations, identify potential anesthesia-related risks and help ensure patients are medically optimized before their procedures.

Position Highlights

  • Coordinate additional evaluations, testing or specialty clearances when indicated

  • Educate patients and families about preoperative preparation and expectations

  • Communicate assessment findings and recommendations to anesthesiologists, surgeons and procedural teams

  • Help improve patient safety, care coordination and operating-room efficiency

  • Practice in a supportive health system with access to a broad network of specialists and clinical resources

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

  • Current or eligibility for Massachusetts APRN licensure

  • Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner

  • Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication and care-coordination skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment

  • Experience in pre-admission testing, anesthesia, perioperative medicine, internal medicine, hospital medicine, critical care or a related specialty is preferred
